There appears to be three groups of people in the church. Those that are assuredly saved, those that are just not sure, and those that are not yet saved. In fact there are only two, people who are in convenant relationship with God and those that are not.

I don’t believe that the Lord wants us to be passive in our approach to Him and in the way that we practise our faith. I think that very often people come to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and then realising the benefits of the Kingdom think that the Kingdom is for them rather than for the King. To think this way is to engender passivity in our walk- God really wants us to go after Him with everything that we possess.

“In the last days says God…I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh”. Was what was happening that amazing day just for those days? When are the last days? Is such an outpouring available and what God wants to do today? Peter said that what they were seeing was what the prophet Joel referred to, and it was to happen in the last days. The last days are referred to in scripture as the era of Messiah….and in fact cover the whole church age…

God calls people into His kingdom. We all have something to do as far as that call is concerned. When Jesus walked the shores of Galilee He noticed some fishermen working on their nets and He called them. He called them purposefully.

I was thinking about the fact of it being Anzac Day and how often we see military terms used in the word of God. It is not surprising when you consider the fact that our God is a God of war. So if he is a God of war who is he having war with? I think that seems to be a reasonable enough question.

There are a lot of questions that we can ask about worship but for me the identifying mark of any revival amongst God’s people always affects the area of worship. Worship should never be seen as passive - it is something that we do in response to an encounter with God and the way we respond to His manifest presence.

Let us be people of the presence of God…prisoners of hope, returned to the stronghold, the place of His presence, of praise.

A good steward of our time recognizes all of our time belongs to God. Every day the clock is ticking. We need to eliminate anything which cant be done to the glory of God from our lives. Each time you look at your watch ask yourself "am I doing what God wants me to be doing?"

George Snyman presents the ministry activities of Hands at Work which is reaching out to the poor and oppressed children of Africa. He speaks about breaking the poverty trap that many find themselves in. There is also a challenge to Christians to use their lives to make a difference in the lives of other people.

Are there good ways to use Facebook? I believe so. We can encourage, build up. Yet, it is a minefield, with very little accountability, addictive, and can rob us of valuable time we could invest in helping others, in prayer, in service to the Lord. Let’s live in fellowship, prayer, accountable.

Praying still changes the circumstances of men and that depends upon our righteous standing before God and our fellow man. Effective prayer is fervent, not marred by sin, and produces the desired result.

Whether you feel like you need a rest, whether it has been a long, dark night and you feel like you want to take a break, whether you feel empty-handed in what you have been asking the Lord for – Jesus is in the boat. He says…come on, this is the time to launch out into the deep with Me, and let down your nets for a catch.

Giving is an evidence of our faith in God. We are to trust Him with our first fruits and leave the rest up to Him. We do not give in order to receive but rather we give because it is a principle of Scripture that has a commensurate blessing accompanying it.

What is stopping us today from being Jesus’ hands to the world? He wants us to stretch out our hand and be restored. He wants to use our hands, stretched out, to His world. When we realize this – our hand stretches out with His power to heal, with His encouragement to those who are down, with His compassion to give, with His generosity to meet a need – that is what He is wanting. He plans to reach His world, using our hands.

Xavier brings a challenging word to live out the gospel. The gospel is the power of God for salvation. It is the words of truth and eternal life. Our mission is to take those words to the end of the earth so that all may hear them.
